Ventrilo setup for dummies.

This is really easy to do if you follow the instructions step by step. I cut these steps down to the bare essentials, so be sure you don't skip a step.

Download Ventrilo

  1. Click this link to go to the download page. Ventrilo for Windows
  2. At the bottom of that page, click the button that says "I Agree"
  3. A box will pop up asking what you want to do with this file.
  4. Save this file to a location on your computer that you can find later. Your desktop is a good place.

Installing Ventrilo

  1. Locate the file you downloaded to your computer.
  2. Double click the file.
  3. In the box that opens, click "Next".
  4. Click the dot next to "I accept the license agreement".
  5. Click "Next".
  6. Fill in the blanks for name and organization. These are not important and can be anything.
  7. Click the dot next to "Anyone who uses this computer".
  8. Click "Next".
  9. This screen show where the program will be installed.
  10. Click "Next".
  11. Click "Next" to confirm the install.
  12. After the install stops, click the "Finish" button.
  13. You should now have a Ventrilo icon on your desktop. It looks like a head with sunglasses on.

Running Ventrilo

  1. Double click the Ventrilo icon on your desktop.
  2. To the right of the "User Name" box there is an arrow.
  3. Click on the arrow to open the username panel.
  4. Click "New".
  5. Type in the name you want to display in Ventrilo.
  6. Click "OK".
  7. Click "OK".
  8. To the right of the "Server" box there is an arrow.
  9. Click on this arrow to open the server setup panel.
  10. Click on "New".
  11. Click "OK".
  12. In the "Hostname or IP" box, type in fluorine.typefrag.com
  13. In the "Port number" box, type in 38297
  14. In the "Password" box, type in G4ming
  15. Click "OK".
  16. In the main screen click on the "Setup" button.
  17. The tab that is open is the "Voice" tab.
  18. Make sure that you have a check mark next to "Use Push To Talk Hotkey"
  19. Click your mouse in the "Hotkey" box. The next button you press after this will be the button that you will need to press down when you want to talk. I recommend using the ~ key. This is the key located to the left of the numbers at the top of your keyboard.
  20. Click "OK".
  21. Click the "Connect" button.

Congratulations! You are now using Ventrilo. Press the button that you chose earlier and then speak. Let go of the button when you are not talking.
